What a time to be an earthling. These days of epic upheaval are like an engraved invitation to embrace core questions of empathy, leadership, and our own moral authority.

There is a lot to discuss, and your sacred attention may be feeling a bit frayed these days. So, I hope you'll take your time with this month's newsletter and be inspired by some of the treats at the bottom. 💟

About the Emancipation Moon, Jan 29 - Feb 26

The Sabian symbol for today's New Moon offers a timely reminder: 'A popularity proves ephemeral.' We humans are a fickle and disorderly bunch, especially when our sense of belonging feels threatened.

Think back: Can you recall a time when you bent your moral compass in hopes of gaining favor with a certain person or group? Moments like this are inevitable and can be quite sobering teachers on our path toward radical belonging.

Practice taking joyful falls from grace.

Imagine you're 15, hanging out at the mall with friends when you encounter someone who looks different from you. One of your group throws a taunt, and others chime in. There you are, bemused and not quite sure yet which compass is yours. Whether you join in, remain awkwardly silent, or bravely intercede, something in you has been struck — a chord, a question: Where is yours to stand?

And, while your choices may exile you from your former social body, this exile is also a freedom.

One by one, as we grow, we eventually (hopefully) step onto the solid ground of our dedicated earthling nature. The freedom found here is that of integrity, conviction, and interrelatedness. One by one, despite the seeming 'costs,' we joyfully embrace a deeper kinship beyond social whims.

When writing our 2025 Lunar Tales last year, this particular lunation sparked a bit of hope — regardless of how the political and social winds are blowing, this too shall pass.
