Dear friend,

Every year I marvel at the way my sense of time gets stretched, compressed, and generally thwarted as we transition between calendar years. When is the year actually new? ⌛ Of course it depends on your habits... it could begin on Solstice, or the first new moon following Solstice, or on Spring Equinox when the Sun enters the sign of Aries, or any one of a dozen time-markers we've grown accustomed to. It's all just so smushy! 🤓

It is fortuitous that the dance between natural time and calendar time continues to flummox we moderns. It keeps us a tiny bit humble that we haven't managed to bend the Sun Moon and Stars to our will.

To get into the spirit of this annual cross-fade -- and to celebrate today's New Moon -- I opened my brand new 2025 Dreamfruit Lunar Tales for Earthlings to discover the guiding image accompanying us into the new year. Here is what I found...

As you know, the dream-story for this moon and all of the thirteen moons of 2025 is informed by the worldview of radical belonging, of knowing in the marrow that Earth lives in us as us.

If this is so, what choices do we make going forward?

Regardless of when or how your new year begins, it's a good time to take stock of past lessons and lay in provisions for the journey ahead.
