Dear Earthling,

What do you love about being alive at this time on Earth?
​
In times of uncertainty, with much at stake, there is a grounding and strengthening effect to the practice of gratitude. We focus on the basics, the things we know for sure.

Perhaps we begin with the most fundamental prayer -- "Thank you for my existence." ​

And perhaps that gratitude brings us the strength we need to lift our eyes just enough to say another prayer -- "Thank you to the Earth and all of its beings who bring me companionship, delight, and nourishment."​

And if we have managed to come this far in our practice, it may be that we discover a softness in our hearts and become open to a moment of surprising beauty and connection in our day.​

I wish all of this for you as we sit in our simplest of ceremonies this week, together and apart. May you be graced with the ability to give thanks and to extend blessings to one another.​

May we each be graced with the memory of our radical belonging.
